The scheduling grid

The grid is the heart of OutfitterHQ: your whole fleet down the side, the calendar across the top, and every booking as a block you can see and move. It keeps a promise true — these boats are on this trip for these days — and it replaces the whiteboard.

What you see

• One row per boat, grouped by type, showing its code and home lake.
• One column per day. Bookings span the days they cover; colors reflect status (pending review, confirmed, on the water, completed).
• Tap or click any booking to open it — edit dates, boats, customer details, or jump to the full booking page.

What you can do from the grid

• Create bookings — click or drag empty days on a boat row. Release to open New booking with those dates. The dashed block stays on those rows (and any other hulls you tick) until you Save or go back. This replaces whatever trip you had open in the side panel. (Dragging the date headers labels the calendar, e.g. Long weekend — it does not create a booking.)
• Move the dashed block before you Save — drag it like any other block. Another row swaps the hull on the form; other days slide the dates and keep the length; a diagonal drop does both. A trip with several hulls moves all of them to the new dates, but only the bar you dragged changes boat. A drop onto a slot that already has a booking is refused and the banner names the boat and dates.
• Move and reassign — drag a booking to different dates or a different boat. The app checks conflicts before letting a change land.
• Change the length — drag the left edge of a block to move the start day, or the right edge to move the end. Same boat. Conflicts and undo work the same as a move.
• Add or drop a hull on the open booking — with New booking or Edit open, hold Shift and click a boat’s empty day. If it is not on the trip yet, it joins for the dates already on the form. Shift-click that boat again and it comes off (same idea as Cmd-click in a file list). A plain click on an empty day while you are creating still adds that boat the old way. You can also untick it on the form.
• Narrow by location — click a lake name on the left (George Lake, Unassigned, …) to show only that place. Click another to add it. Click the last one again, or All locations, to see everyone. Hidden lakes stay as one-line labels so you can add them without leaving the rail.
• Undo a move — press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) and the last thing you moved goes back: a saved booking, the dashed block, or an optimizer run you just applied. Press it again to keep stepping back. ⇧⌘Z (Ctrl+Y) redoes. A short note at the top of the grid says what went where. If you are typing in a field, ⌘Z edits your text as usual and leaves the board alone.
• Full screen — the expand icon hides the rest of the app so the board fills the window. Esc or the same icon (now a collapse) to leave.
• Optimize — one button asks the assignment engine to review upcoming bookings and suggest boat swaps that reduce your delivery driving. You see each suggestion with its reasoning, apply the ones you want, and can revert an applied run in one click. See Smart boat assignment.

Works offline

Docks have bad reception. The grid keeps a recent copy of your schedule on the device so you can still read the wall with no signal. Deep offline editing (replica sync) is paused — turning it on broke moving between pages. Use the desk computer on wifi for writes until we turn that back on.

Limits, honestly

• The grid shows one organization's fleet — if you run two separate companies, they're two separate accounts.
• Very large fleets scroll; there's no zoomed-out season view yet.
• Undo covers what you moved on the grid in this tab since you opened it. Edits made in the side panel or by someone else are not on that stack, and if a booking has changed since your move, ⌘Z skips it and says so instead of guessing. Once you Save a new booking, its dashed-block moves are done — edit the booking instead.
• Full screen covers OutfitterHQ’s nav, not the browser’s own full-screen mode. The amber preview-environment banner (and impersonation banner) stay visible.
