How to mark places guests can't travel between

Some pairs of access points have no route between them. Others do, but only for a group that has done a crossing like it before. Tell the app which pairs those are and the booking form will warn staff the moment someone picks them. It warns; it does not block. The desk still decides.

The page speaks your shop's language. A canoe outfitter sees "Can't paddle between" and "Experienced paddlers only"; a snowmobile shop sees "Can't ride between" and "Experienced riders only"; a kennel sees "Can't mush between". The words come from the vocabulary you picked in Settings → Business. The rules underneath are the same.

Steps

1. Open Settings → Booking rules → Route restrictions.
2. Add a restriction. Pick the two places. One rule covers both directions — Bell to George is the same rule as George to Bell.
3. Choose what kind of rule it is:
   • Can't paddle / ride / mush between — nobody should make the trip. Every booking that pairs these two gets the warning.
   • Experienced paddlers / riders / guests only — fine for a group marked Experienced. A Novice group gets the warning.
4. Add a short note if it helps ("4 km portage", "open-water crossing", "unmarked trail past the cache"). The note shows inside the warning on the booking form.
5. Save restrictions. New and edited bookings check the pairs right away.

What staff see

• On New booking and Edit, an amber box appears under the start and return locations as soon as a restricted pair is picked. For an experienced-only pair the same note sits beside the Experience dropdown, so changing the group to Experienced clears it.
• The review step repeats the warning above Create booking. Save works.
• Once saved, the booking page shows a banner that the route was flagged and the day staff went ahead. Loop trips (same place in and out) never trigger it.

Limits

• This does not stop a save. If you need a hard block, that is not built.
• The engine still picks the best units for the trip; it records the warning on the decision audit but does not change which ones it suggests.
• Online guests book loop trips only, so they never see these rules.
• Rules are per pair. There is no "nothing crosses this lake" shortcut yet — add each pair.
• The verb is set by your vocabulary preset, not typed by hand. If you chose Other, the page says "travel".
